The kitchen, dining and living areas were repositioned toward a new outdoor room at the rear, establishing a direct connection between interior and exterior living.

The outdoor room is articulated in dark-stained timber, forming a threshold between house and garden. Timber terraces extend the ground plane for informal use. Pivoting screens modulate privacy and light across the rear elevation.

Spatial relationships across the plan were clarified to allow rooms to connect more fluidly to each other and to the landscape.

Material distinction separates old from new. Existing weatherboards are finished in white. New interventions are in dark steel and timber, a straightforward contrast between the heritage residence and the contemporary addition.
